THE PART TIME CARDIOLOGIST

Have any of you ever heard of a part time cardiologist?    Me neither, but that is what it feels like my cardiologist is.   I have noticed when it comes to things at the hospital like surgeries and invasive tests he is all over it and does it quite well with a good bed side manner.   But when it comes to office visits he is often late and sometimes even canceling appointments after you are at his office already.   Take today for a good example: I had an appointment for 9:45 am I got there at 8:45 am.   His receptionist said you are early.   We pointed out that was because of all the construction in our area.   We would rather be early then late. at around 9:20am the receptionist tells us he will not be there till 10:30am cause he was still at the hospital.   I looked at my sister and said are we going to wait or reschedule?  You see we have been down this road before.   The last time he pulled a stunt like that we sat there 6 hrs and still did not get to see him.

We decided to reschedule.   I was really mad this was a follow up appointment for a cardiac cauterization  he did on me about a month ago.   He was there for the surgery, but he was not there to see hos I was recovering.   The receptionist said he was doing an emergency cauterization.   I bought the excuse at first, but then after we left the office I got to thinking.   I have never heard of and emergency cauterization.   You have to fast for at least 10 hr before one of those I know cause I had 2.   I think she just said it was an emergency so I would calm down some.   I was really angry.   If he knew he was scheduled for the cauterization why the hell did he not call me and reschedule my appointment BEFORE I got there?

I think I have figured it out he likes to do the cutting but not the healing.   I have an anxiety problem.   It was quite rainy and cloudy today.   The clouds work on my anxiety, but I braved it for this appointment because I thought it was important.   It is very upsetting to feel like the doctor does not find it as important to follow up on surgery he does as I do.   I think there should be a law against part time doctors.   If they have offices I think it should be mandatory they BE IN THEIR OFFICES a certain number of hours in a week.   The only exception should be a provable emergency that takes them into surgery unexpected, but even then they should notify their patients as soon as possible.   No way do I believe my doctor did not know he had to do a surgery till just 20 min before my appointment.

SO I SAY THIS TO ALL THE PART TIME DOCTORS OUT THERE.   IF YOU CAN NOT KEEP YOUR HOSPITAL HOURS AND YOUR OFFICE HOURS BOTH, YOU SHOULD CLOSE YOUR OFFICE AND THINK ABOUT GETTING AN OFFICE AT THE HOSPITAL SO YOU CAN SEE YOUR PATIENTS BETWEEN OPERATIONS.  OR GET AN ASSOCIATE TO SEE YOUR PATIENTS WHEN YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE OFFICE.    Some doctors have a policy if you are late 15 min late they can cancel your appointment or if you do not show without calling them they can charge you for the appointment.   I think patients should be covered by something similar like if the doc is late that appointment should be free or if they do not come at all the next one should be free.   If they had to stand accountable for their appointments  maybe they would take them more seriously.   OK I HAVE VENTED MOST OF MY ANGER OUT NOW TY ALL FOR LETTING ME RANT.

COULD BE A LONELIER THEN USUAL CHRISTMAS

I was talking to my sister tonight and it may be a lonelier then usual Christmas this year n1.gif None of us are doing great health wise.   My oldest sister's shingles are acting up my next sister is recovering from pancreatitis, my older brother just had quadruple bypass and I have only been out of the hospital about 3 weeks myself/   My anxiety has been on overdrive.   My younger brother says he is ok but fact is I think more sleep would do him some good.   His father in law is in the hospital and may need surgery, and his daughter's car was hit by a deer the other night.   If you have ever had a car hit by a deer you know for something that looks so frail their bones must be made of iron, because they do a lot of damage to cars.   My poor little brother is running himself ragged n1.gif .   I will admit I really appreciated him being there the night I was admitted to the hospital, but I also felt bad he needed sleep and he was not getting it.   I am worried his health may suffer because he is trying to be all things to everyone.  I love him but he is not invincible.

It looks like there will be no Christmas gathering this year.   That means I may not see some of my family till next year.   Christmas day is always lonely for me I have no family living with me, but without the gathering it will be more lonely then usual.   Everyone else has at least one other family member that will be with them on Christmas day.     I have missed so much in my life mainly because of my health issues.  I hope we will be able to figure out a way to get together for Christmas ,but the fact is I am not counting on it.   I am going to take a page out of Ben Franklins book I am going to expect the worst and be delightfully surprised if the best happens.

UNPOPULAR BUT TRUE

I am about to say something that I am sure will be unpopular with a lot of people but it is true.   A friend of mine just brought something to my attention.   Apparently the president has come under fire yet again.   He was on a talk show and was talking about his lack of skill as a bowler.   He made a remark that he really should not have made, but I really think people are getting all upset over something that is not that big a deal.   He said he bowled 100 and something I do not remember the exact amount, and it was like the special Olympics.   I WANT TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR I DO NOT THINK HE SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT, but I think it became such a big stink because of who he is not because of what he said.   Let's face it many Americans are not happy with how he is running the country, and I think they are letting their personal feelings about him shade their reactions to things he says even if he did not mean to offend when he said it.

I will even offer up a little proof of what I am saying.   How many of you have seen the movie stripes?   It is one of my favorite movies.  I love Herald Ramies and Bill Murray, but if you have watched it as many times as I have you will know what I am about to point out.    Do you remember the scene in John's apartment after he lost his job and his girl left him, when Russell came to visit him.   They were watching tv when a commercial for the army came on the tv.   John says to Russell that they should join the army.   Russell says he bets John he can not do 5 push ups.   When John did the third push up Russell said,  I think you're ready for the Special Olympics.  This statement was in a popular motion picture, by a famous actor.   It was not on a late night talk show.   Over the decades sense Stripes was made millions of people have viewed it.   Do you realllllllllllly think millions of people would have viewed Obamas statement if the media had not picked it up and made a big thing out of it?    Now here is the question:  If comparing oneself to a special Olympian is something so deadly that it cuts people in their emotional hearts, Why was there no big scene about it when Stripes first came out?   And here is another question for you: Had some popular comedian of todays time said the same thing Obama did on a late night talk show would it have even made the news.

I really hate feeling the need to defend someone that has made as many mistakes as Obama has in his career, but if you are going to pick at the guy why use something that others have gotten away with over the years?   Why not pick something more in keeping with his line of work?   What you are all failing to realize is no matter what else he is he is also human and humans make stupid mistakes.   Should he have said that?  It was defiantly  not the smartest thing he ever did, but was it scandal worthy?  No it was not the news people must have had a slow day that day.

I am sure a lot of you anti Obama people are setting there thinking she is pro Obama, but you will be wrong again if you do.   I did not vote for him nor do I think all his decisions  are the best, but as someone who has taken a lot of heat for one dumb remark I can feel a little sorry for him.   Heck I am sure many of you will feel this whole blog was a dumb thing to do, but when I feel something I need to write about it.   You may feel free to voice your opinions to this or any of my blogs if you wish, but I suggest you do not use any foul language as I will delete such entries.

THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER

As some of you know my brother had quadruple bypass surgery Tuesday.   He is doing well and if all goes as planned he should get to come home in about a week.   Now can anyone tell me what it is with men that makes them put off till the last minute going to the doctor when they are ill.   He had been in pain for 4 days BEFORE he went to the hospital and found out he had a heart attack.   If it was me I would not have waited more then 1 day at the most.   What really made me mad was when my niece told me he had know for 10 years he had blockages and was supposed to get it checked out and did not do it.   Tell me what it is with men that compel them to ignore their health till it is too late to fix?   Our dad died of a heart attack so we all know heart disease  is in this family.   Why would he not take it serious when the doc told him he had blockages?   Did he think he was invincible or was he afraid to find out the truth?

My family is falling apart health wise.  My oldest sister had a small stroke and has some kind of termers.   My next sister had pancreatitis.   I was in the hospital 2 times in one month with heart related issues.   And now my older brother had a heart attack.   That only leaves one sibling that has not been in the hospital yet.   Or should I say not this time apparently he was in some time back and for a bit was not in too good of shape they aspirated him when they worked on him.   I get scared when I think of how bad things could get.   The weird thing is for days before my brothers heart attack I my anxiety was over the top and I had a fluttery feeling in my chest the night before he was admitted.   The minute the call came in about his heart attack my anxiety dropped out and I am nearly normal well as normal as I get lol now.

Everyone wants to live a long time but no one wants to get old.   We can take care of our health  and get plenty of exercise but fact is genetics can come and blind side you when you least expect it.   So my advice live every day like it is your last because some day it will be.   Do not fear what you can not change, but change what you can.   And always always tell everyone you love that you love them every day.

THE CARD

Have you ever given any thought to how much joy a little piece of paper can be to someone that is lonely, depressed, or ill?   I can tell you that little piece of paper if it is in the form of a card can mean a lot.   I myself just spent nearly a week in the hospital.   This is the second time in nearly a month I have been in the hospital.     The first time was not so bad but was a little ironic.   My friend Paula had stayed with me nearly the whole time I was there last time, and to my surprise i had lots of visitors.   Both of my brother’s 2 nieces, my oldest sister, my neighbor Patty, Paula's man and her daughter all played me visits when I was in the hospital the first time.

This time was different only my brother Roy and my sister Darlene put in an appearance.   I understand why Paula and my sitter Dorothy did not make it this time, but at least they called to check on me.   If it had not been for all the nurses, doctors, nurses aids cleaning people, and 1 visit each from a social worker and 2 ladies handing out little things to make people feel better I would have died of loneness.   I mean really I understand people have lives and ca not devote all of them to making me happy, but would it have been so hard to do what I do sometimes when people I love are in the hospital.   I will call the gift shop and have a card and usually some small present sent up to them.    Not one card arrived at the hospital for me the whole time I was there.   It was not till i got home found 1 lonely get well card from hundreds of miles away in my mail box.   My friend Jason and his wife Susan had sent me a get well card.   That card meant the world to me.   That little piece of paper showed me at least 2 people thought enough to try to cheer me up,

Is it not odd a little piece of paper could have such a cheering effect on one?   We all need to realize when someone is alone and scared a little thing can make them feel better.   Phone calls are nice but something you can hold in your hand and look at when you are all alone means so much more.
